IN ORDER TO BREAK DOWN BARRIERS, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE.

HOW PFIZER IS CHANGING THE
CONVERSATION AROUND EQUITY IN
ADVANCED PROSTATE CANCER

With many racial and ethnic minority groups underrepresented in prostate cancer research, Pfizer published a call-to-action in the journal CANCER to researchers and drug developers to improve diversity in clinical trials.
To ensure people of all backgrounds have their voices heard in the prostate cancer conversation, we are providing support as founding sponsors for programs that allow patient authors to present research at conferences like the 2022 American Urological Association Annual Meeting and the 35th and 36th Annual European Association of Urology congresses.
To help reduce health literacy disparities and improve education among patients, we developed more than 450 summaries of scientific publications in plain, patient-friendly language.
By analyzing large claims databases and looking at how prostate cancer treatments are used in the real world, we are identifying disparities in treatment associated with poverty and race.

OUR PROGRAMS

This Is Living With Cancer™
This Is Living With Cancer is a comprehensive program from Pfizer Oncology to support people in their cancer journey, with a growing focus on underserved communities who experience challenges in access to care, such as: people living with cancer over the age of 65, racial and ethnic minorities, those of lower income, or individuals who live in rural areas who may not have equal access to resources.
Boldly Caring™
The Boldly Caring program offers resources for patients and their caregivers to help navigate an advanced prostate cancer diagnosis and advocate for the best care possible.

COLLABORATION IS
KEY TO CHANGING
THE CONVERSATION.

With a long-standing dedication to research and treatment, we are creating partnerships to promote equitable care for everyone with advanced prostate cancer, no matter who they are or where they live. In collaboration with the American Cancer Society, we’ve awarded six grants for local health system quality improvement projects aimed at reducing disparities among Black men in prostate cancer care.

Additionally, we have collaborated with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to award 11 grants to support prostate cancer research initiatives globally. These awards support research projects that improve the understanding of, or reduce disparities in the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of, patients in minority and underserved communities.
